Students at St Francis de Sales Catholic Primary School Wooloware show their skills and passion for partner and group dance as Interschool Dance Champions once again for 2019.

DanceFever provides students with the opportunity to develop their skills in the area of performing arts in a commited specialist performing arts program. From Kindergarten to Year 6 students develop knowledge, skills and understanding in learning and composing dances using the elements and contexts of different types of dance.

“If I were Prime Minister I would make every school do dance all the time!”  – Holly

The program teaches students confidence and social interaction skills through partner and group dancing. At the 2019 DanceFever Interschool Challenge students won places in the Foxtrot and Cha-Cha-Cha dance categories in all age groups. Students also hit a hatrick in the Group Hip-Hop category with the overall school winner for the 5th year in a row.

“We have seen social interactions develop between the boys and girls in and out of the classroom” – Gregory Thomas

St Francis de Sales has been extremely successful over the past decade with wins and placements in every dance category.

“So good…It’s the best thing in the world, I want to do it again! It’s a great opportunity to have fun because I know my friend’s school doesn’t do a lot of dance so they miss out on all the fun” – Rhys

Leadership, teachers and staff at St Francis de Sales strongly believes that the Creative Arts assists students to participate in and contribute to cultural life, to become informed consumers of the arts and culture, to empathise with others, and to consider a range of career paths. – NSW Curriculum
